Program: 5 Days / 4 Nights

Itinerary:

DAY 1: CUZCO - VILCABAMBA
The Vilcabamba to Machu Picchu, vilcabamba to machu picchu hike, vilcabambatomachu picchu trek, vilcabamba trek starts with very early departure from cusco, and drive in the direction of Ollantaytambo, from ollantaytambo the bus road is up hill until the mountain pass at 4,600 meters. We will pass some small Inca sites, and stop at some of the local villages to see the way of the local campesinos (farmers). Then we descent to 1500 meters in a humid tropical setting with plantations, and fruit groves. Lunch is on the way , and agfter it we drive up untill the Vilcabamba at 3.400mts, we continue untillDuancacalle to spend the first night.

DAY 2: HUANCACALLE – VITCOS -RAQACHACA
this is the place wehre really starts the Vilcabamba to Machu Picchu hike. After a good breakfast we start walking towards the archeological site of Ñusthispana, a religious and military post of the Incas, later taken by the Spaniards. Later we will go to another site at Vitcos, where some of the biggest battles where fought. From Vitcos we will ascend to the mountains of the Sacsarayoc from the top (depending on clouds) we will have a great view of snowcapped Salkantay and Umantay mountains, later we will descend to our campsite.

DAY 3: RAGACHACA - LACOCOCHA
After breakfast we will begin an ascent along an original Inca trail, it’s a wonderful section, in with beautiful views of some mountain lagoons. From here depending on how we feeling we can choose traverse a pass at 4,600 meters, or if we are feeling very fit we can go for a higher challenge and do a pass at the whopping altitude of 5,200 meters at the MojonPass, needless to say the views are fantastic. After this we descend to lower altitude to our campsite.

DAY 4: LACOCOCHA YANATILE – AGUAS CALIENTES
this section of the Vilcabamba to machu picchu hike takes mostly by the ceja de selva or jungle`s brow, this is altitude rain forest, we will pass, along orchids, bamboo, coffe, plants, fruits , butterflies, it’s a nice change from the high mountains. we arrive yanatile and tale transport to hidroelectrica which is righ behind machu picchu from where we catch train to AguasCalientes to spend a night.

DAY 5:– AGUAS CALIENTES – MACHUPICCHU - CUZCO
As soon as there is some light we start our clima of only 45 minutes to the site of Machu Picchu. Here we will have time, and a whole day to explore the site, climb huayna Picchu mountain, walk to the temple of the moon, and at the end of the day we take a bus to the little town of AguasCalientes where we take transport back to cusco where our Vilcabamba to Machu Picchu, vilcabamba to machu picchu hike, vilcabamba to machu picchu trek, vilcabamba trek ends.
